Aircon Cleaning in Imus, Cavite & Metro Manila: When (and Why) You Should Book One

Most people wait until their aircon completely stops cooling before they think about cleaning it — but by then, you’re usually looking at a repair, not just a cleaning. Here’s how to catch the signs early, plus how often you actually need this service.

Signs your aircon needs cleaning right now

  • It smells bad when you turn it on — a musty, sour, or “wet dog” smell almost always means mold or bacteria buildup inside the unit, usually from trapped moisture in the filter or coil.
  • It’s not cooling like it used to — if you’re setting it colder and colder just to feel the same relief, dust and dirt on the coils are blocking heat transfer, and the unit is working harder for less result.
  • Your electric bill jumped without a lifestyle change — a dirty unit has to run longer to hit your set temperature, and that shows up directly on your Meralco bill.
  • Weak airflow from the vents — a clogged filter restricts how much air the unit can actually push into the room.
  • Water dripping or pooling near the indoor unit — this is often a clogged drain line from built-up dirt, not a refrigerant problem.
  • It’s noticeably noisier than before — dust buildup on the fan blades throws off the balance and adds noise you wouldn’t normally hear.

If any of these sound familiar, that’s your unit telling you it’s overdue — not a “someday” thing.

How often should you clean your aircon?

For most homes in Cavite and Metro Manila running the unit daily, every 3 to 4 months is the general rule. If you’re in a dusty area, near construction, or running the unit almost nonstop (offices, clinics, retail spaces), every 2 to 3 months is safer. Units that only run occasionally can usually stretch to every 5–6 months, but check for the signs above before assuming it’s fine.

Why regular cleaning is worth it, not just cosmetic

A clean unit cools faster, uses less electricity, and lasts significantly longer before needing a compressor repair or full replacement. Most of the “urgent repair” calls we get could have been avoided with a cleaning scheduled a few months earlier — dirt buildup is one of the most common root causes behind bigger, more expensive problems.
